Erin Vincent: material things
Erin Vincent (1977) is a Toronto based-artist whose work draws on a variety of repetitive and labour intensive processes and materials. Things have always fascinated Vincent; attracted to the abject and discarded she de-categorizes them and removes established hierarchies. She explores themes of emotional intensity, intuition and the relationship between things. The sculptures she makes possess their own liveliness and ability to engage and be engaged.
This is Erin’s MFA Thesis Exhibition for York University, focusing on sculpture and installation. She completed her BFA at the University of Waterloo and received her degree in Arts Education from the University of Western Ontario. She is an avid collector, always on the hunt for a good find and in doing so helping to cultivate her artistic practice. Vincent shows her work locally and within Canada, it can be found in private collections in North America and Europe.
