About Berkley Jordan Abrams

Berkley Jordan Abrams is a young photographer currently studying at Dalhousie University in Halifax. This is her first succinct body of work, created in 2010 for an independent study at Rosedale Heights School of the Arts, Toronto, ON where she received  an Honourable Mention in the Photography Program. Her thesis explores in-camera double exposures in a traditional film medium as an exploration of experience and memory.

Artist Statement: I’m intrigued by the layering of multiple exposures and the complexity it adds to an image.  It is an appealing metaphor for the way we process a single memory over time in slightly different ways.  It’s an attempt to capture a feeling of déjà-vu and how it develops.  These images are my visual interpretation of the journey through memory… from its beginnings, how it is recalled, reconstructed, retold and remembered in multiple dimensions and intensities.
