About Anthony Macri

Anthony Macri (born 1968) came to photography from the inspiration of many great documentary photographers. While completing a degree in Political Science and Sociology from McMaster University in Hamilton, ON, he became directly influenced by photography that illustrated political and societal shifts.  His intense passion for black and white photography brought him to the practice of printing his own black and white fine art and documentary photographs.  Macri’s images are laden with the great traditions of  documentary photography coupled with his vibrant and emotional personal work influenced by the humanities.  As a commercial based photographer in Toronto for the last 12 years, he has photographed a vast variety of people from artists, musicians, and actors, to politicians.

Having lost all of his analogue work to the tragic Queen St. W. fire 5 years ago, Anthony is rebuilding his portfolio on film, and backing it up to disk.
